Below is a list of common safety credentials related to experience, training, and certifications for safety professionals:

  • OSHA 30 Construction: 30-hour OSHA Class designed to meet the requirements for safety directors, supervisors, and foremen.

  • OSHA 510 Construction: Prerequisite to OSHA 550, features educational material covering construction safety and health as well as federal OSHA policies, procedures, and standards.

  • OSHA 500 Construction: Course for trainers for OSHA 10 and OSHA 30. Specific emphasis on topics required to train as well as an emphasis on teaching principles.
  • OSHA 502 Construction: Renewal of 500 (required every 4 years). 

  • BCSP (Board of Certified Safety Professionals): A non-profit organization that sets and certifies the technical competency criteria for safety, health, and environmental (SH&E) practitioners.
